I do not understand why you do not share the principal casting sooner. We can never get tickets to see the dancers that we love. The Opera will never dream of not sharing the cast, we always know the actors of a play before we buy tickets. I do not understand why ballet companies do not publish their cast in advance. Although ABT does it because it has already published their casting for next May.

Please let us know as soon as possible the principal casting starting December 13.

We are a family of four coming all the way from Iceland to enjoy the Nutcracker on the 23rd of dec. and can´t wait!

Hi Barbara—thank you for your message. There are many factors that need to be considered when putting casting together, especially for Nutcracker, but we appreciate your feedback and as you’ll note, the 13th is now posted.

So looking forward to the Nut this year, especially with some exciting, new dancers.

But I really, really, wish the casting was still on the Casting page instead of only being linked to the blog. If you want to list the casts on Twitter or Facebook or the blog, fine. But a lot of workplaces block access to any kind of ‘social media’ site, so I can’t even check casts at lunch. Since many of us subscribers often buy additional tickets based on who’s dancing, it’s frustrating when we can’t check casts until hours after they’ve been posted. (Of course, I guess my boss is happy I’m spending less time planning my ballet attendance!)

When will the principal casting be available for the performances after Christmas?!

Please post Nutcracker casting in its usual place. Placing it only on the Blog page is confusing, cumbersome and downright puzzling. Thank you.

Hi folks, SFB here–thanks for your feedback. We have had issues with our casting page but are working on a fix, so we really appreciate your thoughts, and we’ll definitely take them into consideration as we work toward a solution.

Saw tonight’s performance…excellent and was very much enchanted by Mathilde’s performance with Davit!!!

Tonight’s performance of the Nutcracker by the San Francisco Ballet made me consider the tactics the Nutcracker Prince used against the Mouse King’s army. He led off with an infantry skirmish, presumably to confirm the mice’s numbers and dispositions. The cannon should have fired before the main infantry engagement under the principle of “artillery conquers, infantry occupies,” but it was used effectively. The Prince’s horse cavalry entered from the left of the meeting engagement, presumably to collapse the mice’s front lines. The unconventional use of the mousetrap to ensnare the Mouse King had to come from the civilian Clara, as such innovations are rarely doctrinal. All in all, an appropriate rendering of 19th Century European tactics.

Note to Peggy: you can access this casting/SFB blog with your SmartPhone. I have no trouble when I view SFB’s main site in *desktop* version on my iphone. If the mobile version pops up, which doesn’t get you to casting, choose “View standard site”, then click on the “Season & Tickets” tab. From there, you will click on “Casting” (under “2014 Season”.
It’s really easy to check from iphone, if you know to go to “Standard” or “Full site” first.
SFB-is there a shorter way to reach Casting from your mobile site which would eliminate having to view the desktop version on our mobile devices?
Happy Holidays to all of you at SFB who make ours more Merry!
