Edinburgh International Arts Festival

Charles

I am really excited about my invitation to take part in the 2009 Edinburgh International Arts Festival in Scotland. This will be my fourth time presenting a special project in Scotland, and I’ll tell you more about that at a later date.

This year, I will participate in a special project for an arts education training institute: The Arts Practitioner Summer School. This institute is the first of its kind for the Festival. As part of a roster of international artist educators from around the world, I will lead the dance strand. In the role of master teacher, I will train dance educators from across the UK in pedagogy, methodology and best practices in arts education and outreach. In addition to training teachers, I will lead public dance workshops, lecture, and serve as an expert on dance education for the Festival.

The Edinburgh International Festival is part of a series of 12 festivals held each year in Scotland, and is considered the world’s largest. Every August, the Edinburgh International Festival transforms one of the world’s most beautiful cities (in my opinion), presenting three exhilarating weeks of the finest creators and performers from the worlds of the arts – for everyone. This year’s Festival takes place from August 14 through September 6, 2009. I look forward to this adventure, and hope you’ll enjoy it too!

The image attached is one of my favorites, and it really reminds me of Scotland, “the land of castles.”
